Tattoo Removal: Leading Procedures to Consider

According to the New Look Laser College, 45 million Americans have at least one tattoo. Of those people, New Look Laser College estimates up to 40% regret their tattoos.

If you have a tattoo you are unhappy with, there are various types of tattoo removal options. At K.O. Blade & Beauty, we can help you decide on the right choice for your personal needs.

Laser Tattoo Removal with PicoSure4

One of the options we offer is laser tattoo removal using the PicoSure4, a sophisticated device that makes the removal of tattoos much easier and more effective.

The PicoSure4 uses a combination of pulses that are nanoseconds and picoseconds in length. For some perspective, it is important to know that a picosecond is 1,000 times shorter than a nanosecond. These picoseconds can remove the shallower and smaller ink particles, while the nanoseconds take care of the deeper and larger particles.

The PicoSure4 device also utilizes four different wavelengths, making removing pigments of various colors and sizes easier.

A laser tattoo removal option like this allows us to more effectively and rapidly remove your tattoos. It is best suited for professional tattoos because professional ones have more even shading and use better quality ink than amateur tattoos. With that being said, the PicoSure4 can help fade amateur tattoos and can even remove some.

The perfect candidate for this type of laser tattoo removal is someone with tattoos anywhere in the body except near the eyes. Other factors that can impact the results include:

  • Skin pigmentation
  • Overall health
  • Age of the tattoo (older tattoos preferred)

We prefer non-smokers for this type of tattoo removal, but we will evaluate each individual’s health to find the best treatment.

Preparing for Laser Tattoo Removal

During our first consultation, we will assess your health levels and the tattoo you want removed to find the best option. If we decide on laser tattoo removal, we will give you some instructions to follow in preparation for your appointment. These can include:

  • Avoiding sun exposure and tanning beds
  • Avoiding products that cause photosensitivity
  • Not having other cosmetic procedures in the area

On the day of the procedure, do not wear lotions, fragrances, oils, or creams. We will clean the area and give you protective eyewear before using the PicoSure4 over the tattoo.

What to Expect

For small and medium tattoos, the session may last between 10 and 15 minutes, while it can take up to an hour with larger ones. Most people need between three and ten sessions to achieve complete tattoo removal. We will schedule sessions at least six weeks apart to allow your body to heal.

Fresher and more vibrant tattoos can take a bit longer to fade, so you may have to wait a few weeks to see results. With older tattoos, you may be able to see results within a few days.

Keep in mind that tattoo removal results vary.

Saline Tattoo Removal

Another option we offer at our clinic is the saline tattoo removal procedure. This removal technique uses a special saline solution made with purified water and milled sea salt, lemon and orange seed extract, and aloe.

We inject this solution into the tattoo, and it will break up the pigment and lift it out of your skin by osmosis. It is a gentler option for people who do not want laser tattoo removal.

This option is best suited for removing cosmetic tattoos since the ink used in those does not respond as well to laser removal. It is also a good choice for smaller tattoos. The more superficial the pigment is, the better the tattoo removal results will be with this type of option.

One of the best things about saline tattoo removal is that it is effective on all skin types and colors, providing a natural and safe way of getting rid of an unwanted traditional or cosmetic tattoo.

Preparing for Saline Tattoo Removal

We will schedule a consultation, where we will discuss the tattoo you would like removed and your overall health to find the best option for the tattoo removal. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or if you have infections in the treatment area, we will postpone the treatment.

Before your saline tattoo removal appointment, we recommend you avoid sun exposure as well as tanning beds and anything else that can make your skin more sensitive, like Retinols and Retin-A.

On the day of your appointment, do not exercise. Wear loose and comfortable clothing that can leave the tattoo area uncovered.

What to Expect

The session can last about an hour and a half, depending on the tattoo size. We will clean and numb the target area using a topical anesthetic. Then we’ll begin injecting the saline solution into the tattoo.

The number of sessions you will need to remove the tattoo will depend on its size, color, and more. Generally, we will allow eight weeks between sessions to let your skin heal.

Benefits of Medical Weight Loss

According to Boston Medical Center, as many as 45 million Americans go on a diet each year. For many people, however, going on a diet and exercising without expert support results in a rollercoaster of weight loss and weight gain that can be frustrating and even harmful.

At K.O. Blade & Beauty, we offer a weight loss program that can help you achieve the results you want. It is medical weight loss. Learn more about what medical weight loss is and how it can be beneficial.

What Is Medical Weight Loss?

For most people, hearing the term “medical weight loss” brings to mind liposuction and other invasive procedures. That is not what our program offers. Medical weight loss is an alternative to surgical procedures that can help you lose weight while learning how to keep it off.

Medical weight is the process of losing weight under the supervision of a medical professional. We use our experience and training to help you fix your relationship with food.

Being overweight puts a huge strain on your body. It can cause many health concerns, including:

  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • Liver disease
  • Sleep disorders
  • Joint issues

By engaging in a medical weight loss program like ours, you can learn how to create a realistic weight loss plan that you can more easily stick to.

We offer nutrition counseling, where you can address the issues you have with food and learn how to eat more healthily. There is a lot of misinformation out there and lots of diet fads, so our specialists will help you develop a unique nutritional plan based on science, not trends.

During these nutritional sessions, you will learn how to cope with cravings as well as how to recognize when you’re actually hungry.

Our weight loss program also provides exercise counseling. Learning to eat correctly is one part of the process, and knowing how to exercise in an effective manner is the other. Aside from helping with weight loss, exercising offers many other benefits, including:

  • Improving cognition
  • Improving sleep
  • Reducing the risk of depression and anxiety
  • Reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes
  • Improving bones and muscles
  • Reducing the risk of heart disease

With our guidance, you will be able to find the exercise plans that work best for your health and mobility levels.

Why Is Medical Weight Loss Effective?

Medical weight loss can be effective because it focuses on you, treating you as the individual you are. We personalize the program to fit your specific needs, lifestyle, and goals, taking into consideration the unique challenges you may face. Together, we address the specific issues you face to put together a weight loss plan that makes it easier for you to succeed.

With our program, you will learn behavior modification techniques. Most diets help you lose weight in the short term without teaching you how to modify the negative behaviors that may be causing the weight gain in the first place. Our goal is to help you achieve weight loss that is sustainable and adjust to your changing lifestyle as needed.

Our medical weight loss program is medically managed. There is a medical professional who will monitor you every step of the way while also incorporating weight loss medication and other supplements to help you. B12 injections is one of the tools we use. These B12 injections boost your energy levels and your metabolism, which can help you shed pounds.

We also perform routine medical exams to ensure the program is functioning as it needs to and that you are benefitting from it. This medical monitoring will allow us to make changes as needed.

With a medical weight loss program, you get constant support. Our specialists are there for you as you take each step toward a healthier weight. We monitor your treatment plan with you to make certain it meets all of your needs.

The Initial Consultation

At our first consultation, we will ensure that you are physically healthy enough to begin the weight loss program. We will perform blood work and a physical examination, as well as an EKG test to monitor how your heart functions.

We will also ask you questions about your medical history, your eating and exercising routines, and the reasons why you may have had trouble in the past losing weight. Some of the important things we will identify are the times of the day when you are prone to overeating, what can trigger you to eat emotionally, and when you can fit an exercise schedule into your day.

Be completely honest with us during this consultation about all of the issues that may be preventing you from losing weight, including any medical or emotional challenges you face. This will enable us to create the kind of individualized plan you can stick to.

During this consultation, we will also decide whether medications and supplements are a good choice for you and if vitamin B12 injections can help you achieve your goals.

Semi-Permanent Makeup Solutions: Microblading in Newport News, VA

On average, women spend almost 30 minutes a day applying makeup. One of the most common challenges — and one that can take up significant time in your makeup routine — is making your eyebrows look their best.

If you have grown tired of applying pencils, brushes, and powders to your brows each day, microblading is one of the semi-permanent makeup solutions to turn to. Read on to know more about this option.

What Is Microblading?

Microblading is a long-lasting makeup procedure that functions similarly to a tattoo. At our center, we use a manual, disposable handheld tool made up of very fine needles called microblades to hand-draw each individual hair while at the same time injecting pigment.

Each new hair fits seamlessly into your natural brows, adding volume and color and providing a natural look.

Although microblading is similar to a tattoo, there are some differences. When you get a tattoo, the ink goes into the dermis layer of your skin. Microblading pigment, however, enters the epidermis, which is the top layer of skin. Because the pigment rests on the surface, the procedure is not permanent.

The type of ink also varies between tattoos and microblading procedures. Tattoo ink can look less defined, while microblading ink can look crisper, allowing you to get a precise and less blurry eyebrow look.

Microblading works on most skin types, but if you have oily skin, we will help you find a treatment option that works more effectively.

There are different types of microblading, including 1D Eyebrows, in which all hair strokes go in one direction, and 3D Eyebrows, in which we lay out hair strokes in a specific pattern to create a 3D effect.

The best candidates for this type of eyebrow solution are those who:

  • Have over-plucked eyebrows
  • Have asymmetrical eyebrows
  • Have sparse or light-colored eyebrows
  • Have alopecia
  • Have undergone chemotherapy treatments
  • Want to wear less makeup
  • Want waterproof and sweatproof eyebrows

If, however, you are pregnant, are currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation, or are taking Accutane, we will work with you to find an alternative treatment option.

Microblading vs. Ombre Brows

Both microblading and ombre brows are popular semi-permanent makeup solutions we offer at our center. They both provide beautiful and lasting results, but how they do so differs.

To create ombre brows, we use a special tool similar to a tattoo gun to shape and fill in your brows. Instead of micro-cuts, as we would use in microblading, we use pigmented dots to give you a soft, penciled-in look. Ombre brows can also be the best choice for people with oily skin.

At our center, we can combine both techniques when you choose our combination brow option.

Preparing for Microblading

The entire process will begin with a consultation. We will discuss your options for the results you want to achieve, assessing your skin type to see if you are a good candidate for microblading.

To prepare for the procedure, you should avoid Botox and other injectable treatments at least three weeks before microblading, and don’t get chemical peels for at least a month before. If you typically use creams and lotions containing retinol or anti-aging skincare treatments, stop using them before the microblading procedure.

We also recommend that you avoid tanning, waxing, or tinting right before microblading. Two days before the process, stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, niacin, and vitamin E. The day before your appointment, avoid alcohol, and on the day of the procedure, do not exercise.

The Microblading Procedure

The entire process can take two to four hours at our center. We will begin by mapping your eyebrows, measuring them to ensure symmetry, and allowing you to get an idea of the results. Together, we will decide on the fullness of the brow to give you the exact look you want.

Once you are happy with the mapping, we will apply a topical anesthetic and begin tattooing the hair strokes.

Right after we finish, you can leave.

Microblading Aftercare

Even though there is no downtime after microblading, we do offer some microblading aftercare guidelines you need to follow for the best results. The full healing process can take 7 to 14 days, with full color showing after a month.

For ten days after the procedure, avoid pools and hot tubs. Protect your eyebrows from shower sprays, as well, and avoid getting them wet when you wash your face.

We will advise you on the right ointments to help the healing process, so avoid applying any lotions or creams that we do not specifically recommend. You also do not want to scratch, massage, or scrub at your brows.

We advise you not to wear makeup for at least a week after the procedure and to keep your hair away from your brow line.

After six weeks, we recommend you come to the center again for a touch-up. You can then return every six months to keep your brows looking their best. During these touch-ups, we will fill in any areas that may not have darkened completely, reshape the brows if needed, and redefine the strokes.

The tattoo can last from one to three years if you follow our microblading aftercare recommendations.

Microshading: The Benefits of Ombre Brows

Maintaining your brows is not a passing fad. Every culture and time period has had various ways of shaping and enhancing eyebrows. These days, an average of 25% of American women use brow pencils, while 1 in 5 use eyebrow makeup to achieve the look they want.

One option growing in popularity for achieving full, sculpted eyebrows is ombre brows. This technique allows you to get optimal brow shading without worrying about pencils, brushes, and powders. Read on to learn about the ombre brows process and the benefits it offers.

How Are Ombre Brows Done?

Ombre brows, also called powdered brows, are a long-lasting method of eyebrow microshading. This technique, first developed in Asia, creates a soft and shaded pencil look that adds definition and depth to the brows.

Eyebrow microshading can help achieve the following goals:

  • Ideal brow shape
  • Replace the need for brow makeup
  • Fill in sparse areas

The procedure for ombre brows is similar to microblading. It requires a specialized machine that places hundreds of tiny pigment dots under your skin. We usually shade the tails of the brows darker, with the color gradually lightening toward the start of the eyebrow. This creates the popular ombre look.

The traditional tattooing method used in this procedure leads to long-lasting results. At our center, we can customize the look, letting you choose between a more natural makeup style or one that is bolder. This option works for all skin types, including oily and combination skin.

If you want a full brow without spending time applying makeup, our powdered brows procedure is the right choice.

Ombre Brows vs. Microblading

Both of these options are similar in that they use a tattoo-like makeup technique for lasting results. The biggest difference between powdered brows and microblading is how we place the pigment in your skin.

At our center, we perform microblading with a handheld tool to create very fine color strokes on your eyebrows that mimic hair. This tool is best for filling out your brows and enhancing volume.

The ombre brows method provides a softer and more natural look. It also offers a more defined look than microblading does, making it ideal for adding color and depth.

Microblading does not work for all skin types. For people who have oily skin, the color does not show up as effectively. That is not an issue with ombre brows, allowing people with all types of skin to get the brows they want.

At our center, we can combine both options to give you your desired eyebrow results. Microblading can be effective at the start of the brow, while ombre can work on the tail.

Preparing for the Powdered Brows Procedure

At your consultation, we will speak about your brow goals to find the customized option to achieve them. We might recommend both microshading and microblading. We encourage clients to bring reference photos.

In the weeks before your session, you should take care of your skin by avoiding excess sunlight and tanning sessions. We also recommend you avoid tweezing, waxing, or electrolysis for at least a week before the procedure.

Abstain from alcohol and perspiration 48 hours before your appointment, and do not get a facial for at least two weeks before microshading.

Since the ombre brows cannot get wet for 72 hours after application, we also recommend you wash your hair the morning of your appointment. Let us know if you have received Botox or fillers in the recent past and about any medications you take.

The Procedure

Come to the procedure with a bare and clean face. We will begin by taking photos of your current eyebrows and mapping them out to the shape you want. We will measure them, as well, to ensure we offer symmetrical results. Before we continue with the procedure, you will need to approve the shape of your new eyebrows.

If you are happy with the mapping, we can begin the procedure. We will outline the surface of your brows with the machine and apply a topical anesthetic, letting it sit for five to ten minutes. We can then begin the microshading with the tattoo machine.

When we finish, you will get a final look and review, letting you request final touches.

After the Procedure

We recommend you avoid getting the brows wet for ten days, so you should protect the area during showers and avoid heavy exercise. You also want to skip makeup for about a week.

We will offer antibacterial ointments to apply during the first 24 hours and advise you not to get facial treatments or use creams containing Retin-A or glycolic acid. Stay out of the sun, as well.

After two or three weeks, we will schedule an appointment to provide touch-ups, if they are needed.

Benefits of Ombre Brows

Microshading is a non-invasive procedure that offers lasting results. Although results vary depending on lifestyle, health, and skin type, a typical powdered brow session can offer results that last two to three years. For some people, results may last up to five years.

This procedure also offers natural-looking eyebrows with the look you want since customizing ombre brows is simple.

Get Full and Beautiful Brows

With microshading, you can get the defined and full eyebrows you have always dreamed of. This simple procedure is suitable for all skin types and offers quick, long-lasting results that look natural.

At K.O. Blade & Beauty in Newport News, VA, we offer a variety of eyebrow enhancing options to suit every need. We provide stress-free solutions for your daily beauty routine, letting you look and feel your best. Contact us today to request an appointment.

Laser Tattoo Removal with PicoSure4

While tattoos are considered to be a form of permanent skin art, advancements in laser technology have made it possible to reduce the visibility or almost completely eliminate the ink in your skin. Known as laser tattoo removal, this procedure is completed using a rapidly pulsating laser that targets the ink particles in your skin.

Although laser tattoo removal has been around for quite some time, the technology has become exponentially more sophisticated in just the last few years.

One of the most sophisticated devices is the PicoSure4 (PiQo4) laser tattoo removal system. The expert care team at K.O. Blade & Beauty uses this system to help clients rid themselves of unwanted tattoos.

What Is PicoSure4 Tattoo Removal?

The PicoSure4 is so named due to its unique attributes. The device uses a combination of nanosecond- and picosecond-long pulses. A picosecond is 1,000 times faster than a nanosecond.

During treatment, the nanosecond pulses break up ink particles that are larger or deeper in the skin. Then, the picosecond pulses eliminate the shallower, smaller ink particles.

In addition to using varying pulse lengths, the PicoSure4 utilizes four different wavelengths. This allows the device to effectively break down pigments of different colors and shades.

Due to the power of the PicoSure4 tattoo removal platform, our team can more efficiently remove tattoos, reduce the length of treatment sessions, and minimize skin irritation.

Who Is a Candidate for Laser Tattoo Removal?

The PicoSure4 tattoo removal system can be used on tattoos anywhere on the body, as long as they are not located near the eyes. However, the ideal candidate is someone with lighter skin and a healthy immune system.

It is preferable that patients are nonsmokers, but our care team will examine each individual’s unique healthcare history when providing guidance concerning treatment eligibility.

The PicoSure4 laser tattoo removal device is most effective on older tattoos with black ink. With that being said, the four different wavelengths used in the PicoSure4 laser can effectively break down ink pigments ranging from orange to black.

The best way to determine candidacy is to schedule a consultation with the K.O. Blade & Beauty care team. During a short consultation, one of our experienced providers will determine whether you are a good candidate for laser tattoo removal services.

Does PicoSure4 Work on Amateur Tattoos?

PicoSure4 is best suited for professional tattoos. This is because professional tattoos typically have uniform shading and ink distribution throughout. In addition, professional tattoo artists typically use high-quality inks.

Conversely, amateur tattoos may exhibit uneven ink distribution. Color may be harshly packed into the skin in some areas, making it challenging to effectively break up the particles during laser tattoo removal.

However, PicoSure4 can be used to remove or reduce the visibility of amateur tattoos in many instances, especially if the tattoo is older or already beginning to fade. Removing amateur tattoos may require additional treatment sessions, which our provider will discuss with you during a consultation.

What to Expect During the Procedure

During your initial consultation, we will provide you with a detailed set of treatment preparation instructions. Examples include avoiding the use of deodorant or lotions the day of the procedure and minimizing sun exposure in the weeks leading up to the treatment.

When you come in for a laser tattoo removal session, our clinicians will start by thoroughly cleaning the area. Once the area is cleaned, one of our team members will start the laser tattoo removal process. We will carefully apply the PicoSure4 laser to the entire tattoo.

If you are receiving treatment for a small- to medium-sized tattoo, your procedure may take approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Larger tattoos may take as long as half an hour to one hour to treat.

In total, you may need anywhere from three to ten sessions in order to complete your laser tattoo removal. Our team will schedule your sessions approximately six to eight weeks apart in order to give your body ample time to heal between each appointment.

Each treatment plan is designed around the unique needs of our patients in order to provide you with optimal results.

When Will I See Results?

As with any procedure, your individual results may vary. However, some patients might notice visible results within a few days after their first session. This is more common if the tattoo was already older and faded.

Fresher tattoos or those that are particularly vibrant may not exhibit dramatic fading for the first several weeks. In rare cases, you may need to undergo multiple sessions before seeing noticeable results, especially if treatment is being performed on a saturated amateur tattoo.

The PicoSure4 is designed to break down ink particles while minimizing the effects on your skin. Therefore, most patients experience no skin damage from the procedure. However, if you have a history of scarring easily, make sure to discuss your concerns with our care team during your consultation.

Laser Tattoo Removal in Newport News, VA

Tattoos are supposed to be a point of pride for their wearers. However, it is perfectly normal to change your mind about a tattoo in the months or years after you receive it. If you have decided that you are no longer in love with your tattoo, then you may be a good candidate for PicoSure4 tattoo removal at K.O. Blade & Beauty.

Conveniently located in Newport News, VA, our team of talented clinicians provides customers throughout the area with safe tattoo removal services. To learn more, we invite you to call our office or book your free consultation online.

Professional Post-Op Care for Cosmetic Procedures

Are you considering undergoing a cosmetic procedure in order to help you achieve your ideal look?

Maybe you’re excited about the idea of receiving a tummy tuck, liposuction, or other body-centric cosmetic procedure but are concerned about the potential for prolonged downtime. Are you looking for a way to expedite your recovery and get back to your normal routine as safely and efficiently as possible?

If this sounds familiar, then you should ensure that you partner with a cosmetic treatment facility that offers post-op care, such as K.O. Blade & Beauty. Our highly experienced care team utilizes the latest techniques and therapies in order to help our patients feel and look their best.

Below, we explore what post-op care is and what benefits it could provide. We also highlight some of our most popular post-op care treatments so that you know what to expect when you’re planning your recovery journey.

Benefits of Post-Op Care

Prior to undergoing any type of surgical procedure, your clinical team will provide you with detailed post-operative care instructions. The specific scope of these instructions will vary depending on your unique health history, the procedure you are undergoing, and other factors.

Common examples of post-op care include things like bed rest and limiting physical activity. On their own, these instructions are meant to help you safely recover from your procedure so that you can avoid any potential setbacks.

However, proactive post-op care therapies are critical for recovering from cosmetic surgery. These interventions have the potential to speed up the healing process, decrease swelling, and reduce stiffness.

Depending on the type of cosmetic procedure that you are undergoing, you may be eligible to take part in several different post-op care therapies. It is vital to discuss your specific post-op care regimen during your initial consultation and pre-op appointment.

Common Types of Post-Op Care

Many different types of post-op care procedures may be necessary in order to minimize the risks of complications during your recovery process. Some of the most common include the removal of stitches and drains. At times, patients may also require needle aspiration of seromas and mild wound care.

In addition to these general post-op care interventions, some patients are eligible for lymphatic drainage massages or post-op body contouring.

If these treatments are recommended by our staff, you should strongly consider taking advantage of them, as they have the potential to improve your overall results.

What Is Lymphatic Drainage Massage?

Your body’s lymphatic system is made up of various organs, vessels, and tissues. Cumulatively, these components work to keep your blood circulating properly, support key immune functions, and help your body maintain appropriate fluid levels.

Your system transports a clear fluid known as “lymph” through your body so that it can be filtered through lymph nodes. Lymph contains metabolized cells, waste, proteins, and other biological components. After the waste is filtered out of the lymph at the lymph nodes, your body expels it via urine or fecal matter.

Following a cosmetic surgical procedure, your lymphatic system may temporarily become overwhelmed as your body strives to recover from the treatment. When this happens, you may retain excess fluids or feel bloated and uncomfortable. This swelling is normal, as the cosmetic surgical procedure will trigger an inflammatory response.

However, manually stimulating the lymphatic system using a lymphatic drainage massage has the potential to help your body rid itself of excess waste faster. During the lymphatic drainage massage, a licensed massage therapist will work to address key areas of swelling and push lymph through the body.

Your surgeon may recommend that you start receiving lymphatic drainage massages as soon as 24 hours after surgery. Patients are usually encouraged to receive these massages daily during the first week of post-op care. The frequency is decreased to two to three times per week for the remainder of the post-op care regimen.

Benefits of Lymphatic Drainage Massage

There are many potential benefits to lymphatic drainage massage. This post-op care therapy can help patients relax and feel less stressed during the healing process. Additionally, lymphatic drainage massages may reduce inflammation, help the body expel excess fluids, and stimulate the healing response.

What Is Post-Op Body Contouring?

Post-op body contouring is a procedure used to remove excess skin following cosmetic surgeries such as tummy tucks, Brazilian butt lifts, or liposuction. Post-op body contouring is usually scheduled several weeks after the primary cosmetic procedure so that the skin has time to heal.

Post-op body contouring is meant to be a minimally invasive treatment and is usually performed over several sessions. During this treatment, our clinicians may use techniques such as infrared light therapy, ultrasound cavitation, radiofrequency, suction, and wood therapy.

Post-op body contouring is designed to help patients achieve their desired shape and look following a cosmetic procedure.

What You Need to Know About Saline Pigment Removal

At one point, you intended for your tattoo to last forever. However, you may decide that your tattoo doesn’t reflect you anymore. When your tattoo or permanent makeup no longer suits you, you may worry that your tattoo removal options are limited.

K.O. Blade and Beauty now offers a new way to remove your tattoo — one that’s even suitable to remove microblading: saline pigment removal. This brand-new service we’re providing to the Newport News, VA, area is quickly becoming our patients’ preferred method to remove unwanted tattoos.

Are you curious about saline tattoo removal, whether it’s the right option to remove your tattoo or permanent makeup, and how it differs from laser tattoo removal? In that case, we’re here to answer all of your questions. So read on to learn more about saline pigment removal and determine whether it’s the best option for your needs.

What Is Saline Pigment Removal?

Saline pigment removal uses an approved saline solution to break up your tattoo’s pigment and pull it out of the skin. The solution contains milled sea salt, purified water, orange and lemon seed extract, and soothing aloe.

Removing the tattoo using saline pigment is similar to tattooing or microblading. However, instead of injecting ink, the hypertonic solution pulls the pigment to the skin’s surface using a coil or rotary tattoo machine.

Once the pigment reaches the skin’s surface, the solution breaks up the pigment through osmosis, forming a temporary scab. Saline pigment removal is the gentlest form of tattoo removal.

How Does Saline Remove Tattoos?

Saline pigment removal is the most widely used and recommended product for cosmetic tattoo removal. The process lifts, lightens, and corrects bad or unwanted microblading, permanent makeup, and scalp micropigmentation.

Saline, a mixture of salt (sodium chloride) and water, comes in different concentrations. Lower concentrations of saline, called isotonic saline, contain about 0.9% salt, which offers about the same salt concentration as your body’s natural fluids like blood and tears. You can rehydrate your cells with isotonic saline.

Higher concentrations of saline, called hypertonic saline, does the exact opposite. Hypertonic saline dehydrates cells through osmosis. So when one of K.O. Blade and Beauty’s expert technicians injects hypertonic saline into your areas of unwanted ink, the saline pulls pigment out of the cells and up to the skin’s surface.

Where Is Saline Pigment Removal Most Effective?

Saline pigment removal is particularly effective in removing cosmetic tattoos. The pigments used in cosmetic tattoos are often different from those used in traditional tattoos and respond very well to removal through saline.

Saline pigment removal is ideal for smaller tattoos or tattoos where the ink deposits are more shallow than traditional tattoos. We frequently use saline pigment removal to remove eyebrow tattoos or faded microblading.

Eyebrow Tattoo Removal

Eyebrow tattoos often use micropigmentation to permanently change the shape or look of your brows. Micropigmentation uses tiny dots of pigment, which are deposited into the skin, creating fuller brows. Saline tattoo removal effectively eliminates those pigments on eyebrow tattoos or other permanent makeup.

Fade Microblading

Microblading creates tiny, shallow cuts or scrapes into the skin. Then, ink or pigment is deposited into those cuts to create the appearance of fine hairs. While microblading is popular for eyebrows, it’s also used on the scalp to create the appearance of thicker hair.

Depending on the depth and the type of pigment used in microblading, saline pigment removal may offer complete pigment removal through multiple treatments — additionally, patients who want to lighten microblading benefit from saline pigment removal.

What Is the Process for Saline Pigment Removal?

Saline tattoo removal breaks up pigment slowly and gently over time. Most patients who want to remove a tattoo thoroughly will require multiple treatments. These are generally provided eight weeks apart to allow the treatment area to heal fully.

We’ll spread a numbing cream on the treatment area at your tattoo removal session. Then, we’ll apply the saline tattoo removal solution to the skin through the same method that placed the original pigment.

The solution creates a scab over the treatment area, and during the healing process, the unwanted pigment attaches to the scab. The scab pulls the pigment up and out of the skin.

Because the scab is an instrumental part of the removal process, it needs to be kept dry at all times and remain untouched until it falls off by itself as the skin naturally heals. Full tattoo lightening may require several treatments, as the pigment releases from the skin in layers.

Saline Pigment Removal vs. Laser Tattoo Removal

Choosing the most effective method for removing your tattoo depends on many factors. When used correctly, both saline pigment and laser tattoo removal provide successful tattoo removal. While laser tattoo removal generally offers the most efficient tattoo removal, there are situations where it’s not a viable option.

Patients who have the following may not be good candidates for laser tattoo removal:

  • Tattoos with specific ink colors
  • Microblading
  • Tattoos near eyes or hair follicles
  • Allergic reactions to tattoo ink
  • Sensitive skin

Some skin types may experience pigment problems or scarring with laser tattoo removal. If this is a concern, we recommend saline pigment removal.

Am I a Candidate for Saline Pigment Removal?

The ideal candidates for saline pigment removal have small tattoos, microblading, or permanent makeup to be removed or lightened. Patients with severe health or skin conditions that prolong or inhibit healing may not qualify for saline pigment removal.

How Is Medical Weight Loss Different?

When you’re looking for long-term, sustainable weight loss, using the guidance of a medical professional to create a realistic, customized plan may provide the solution you need.

At K.O. Blade and Beauty in Newport News, VA, we know that weight loss isn’t easy. Our medical weight loss programs meet you where you are in your journey. We work with you to identify where your most significant challenges lie and then address those challenges directly.

Our weight loss specialists create a custom plan designed for your strengths and weaknesses so that you finally achieve your weight loss goals. Read on to learn about our multifaceted approach to sustainable weight loss.

Weight and Health

Being overweight or obese has adverse effects on your health. Health concerns linked to obesity include:

  • Heart disease
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Some cancers
  • Joint issues
  • Sleep disorders
  • Liver disease
  • High blood pressure

Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight allows your body to function correctly. Even losing five to ten percent of your total body weight can produce health benefits, including lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugars.

What Is Medical Weight Loss?

Medical weight loss is more than just another diet. Instead, it’s a medically supervised approach that works with overweight people who struggle with traditional diet and exercise plans.

At K.O. Blade and Beauty, our medical weight loss programs approach the struggle to lose weight from several angles, including:

  • Nutrition counseling
  • Exercise counseling
  • Physical exams to track and monitor progress
  • Vitamins
  • Medications

Our weight loss specialists work with you to cultivate a plan to create a realistic, personalized program and then support you every step of the way.

Patients who are obese may have underlying health conditions that contribute to weight gain or that play a critical part in weight management. Our healthcare professionals can recommend medications to treat the underlying disease or medical disorders with a medical weight loss program.

Creating a Customized Plan

Our weight loss specialists understand that everyone’s weight loss struggle is different. There are many reasons that patients may carry extra weight. Our first step in cultivating a weight loss plan that works for you is understanding what’s holding you back from losing unnecessary weight.

Your Initial Evaluation

The first step in losing weight is ensuring you’re medically ready to transform your body. To do that, we’ll start by performing routine blood work and an EKG to monitor your heart rhythm for problems.

We’ll also go through your medical history, and we’ll get to know you a little better. We must understand the root cause of your weight gain to address it head-on.

Our team will also discuss what has made weight loss challenging for you in the past and understand your routine. We’ll identify which times of day you’re more likely to overeat so you can prepare, where you can fit in an exercise routine, and what may trigger you to eat emotionally.

As part of your initial evaluation, we’ll determine whether prescription medications may help you on your journey and whether you could benefit from a vitamin injection. These tools may allow you to kickstart your weight loss journey.

Behavior Modification

One of the best ways to lose weight is by adjusting your behaviors. Many weight loss programs allow you to lose weight in the short term, but since our goal is to achieve sustainable, long-term weight loss, adjusting your current lifestyle is necessary.

Our evaluation will determine what behaviors impact your weight loss journey, and then we will identify changes that help you meet your goals.

Nutritional Counseling

We know there’s a lot of misinformation around diet and weight loss. So our weight loss specialists cut through the noise to provide you with a nutrition plan backed by science, not the latest fad.

We’ll offer tips and advice on making better choices, handling cravings, and differentiating between eating because your body needs fuel and eating because you’re tired, frustrated, or bored.

Exercise Counseling

While diet is the essential element to weight loss, exercise also serves a crucial purpose in your journey. Moderate-intensity exercise, such as walking, is safe for most patients and provides several key benefits, including:

  • Reducing the risk of anxiety and depression
  • Improving cognition
  • Improving sleep quality
  • Reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease
  • Reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes
  • Strengthening bones and muscles
  • Increasing balance and coordination

Additionally, regular participation in moderate activity helps to maintain a healthy weight.

Feel Your Best with IV Vitamin Therapy in Newport News, VA

With so much hustle and bustle in daily life these days, it can be difficult to make sure that you get the right amount of all of the daily vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants your body needs to maintain optimal health.

Without the proper intake of these nutrients, you can feel slow and sluggish, your concentration can be clouded, and you might even fall ill frequently. You might not realize that what you lack are the essential nutrients available with IV therapy from KO Blade & Beauty in Newport News.

What Is IV Therapy?

IV therapy is a type of treatment during which specific cocktails of vitamin combinations are delivered intravenously to our patients for maximum benefit. Nutrients are administered via vitamin injections or by intravenous treatment through an IV. These are powerful solutions designed to support the essential functions of your body and boost immunity. IV therapy supplies your body with the crucial vitamins and nutrients it needs efficiently and quickly.

Adults looking for a significant health and wellness boost can benefit from this type of treatment. Therapeutic medicine is beginning to rely more on IV therapy, thanks to its high success rate. Some of the uses of IV therapy and vitamin injections include the following:

  • Improve and even out skin texture and tone
  • Improve hydration and rehydrate the body
  • Alleviate migraine pain, frequency, and severity
  • Hasten recovery from hangovers
  • Supplement folic acid during pregnancy
  • Surgery prep and recovery

Every treatment can be custom-tailored to meet the specific needs of each of our patients. Vitamin therapy can target many different general issues and can also be fine-tuned to zero in on more specific problems.

Why Not Just Take Oral Supplements?

At some point, you may have decided to begin taking oral vitamin supplements. Maybe it was to sharpen your focus and concentration, or maybe it was to gain a boost in energy. Perhaps you wanted to support your immune system. Many people rely on oral supplements to receive their daily doses of vitamins and minerals. Unfortunately, many of the nutrients in oral supplements are wasted. The human body is only able to absorb and use 5–20% of them!

Oral supplements can also be hard on the digestive tract and can cause stomach upset and other digestive issues. These issues can complicate many of the original symptoms of vitamin deficiency you were trying to relieve in the first place. In addition, you might have to take multiple supplements every day just to get a small amount of all of the nutrients your body needs.

The Benefits of IV Vitamin Therapy

Whether you receive vitamin injections or IV therapy, your body processes 100% of the vitamins in your treatment, as opposed to the 5–20% that is absorbed from oral supplements. IV therapy nutrients bypass your digestive system, too, so there is no risk of digestion upset.

Some of the benefits that our patients enjoy with vitamin injections and IV therapy include:

  • Better and more restful sleep
  • Healthier hair, skin, and nails
  • Less anxiety
  • Better mental clarity
  • More energy
  • A boost in immune system health
  • Less fatigue
  • Diminished brain fog
  • Overall improved mood
  • Better weight management
  • Enhanced athletic performance

Treatment sessions are easy and quick; you only need to sit back and relax! IV therapy is truly the fast track to wellness.

Who Can Get IV Vitamin Therapy in Newport News, VA?

Anyone 18 years old or older can benefit from this type of therapy. If symptoms like chronic lethargy, sluggish mental focus, or frequent illnesses sound all too familiar, it’s time to make an appointment for vitamin injections or IV therapy. Since every person must sustain an adequate intake of vitamins and minerals, vitamin therapy is recommended for just about any adult. Too many people wait until they notice uncomfortable symptoms before they act. Don’t wait; now is the best time to begin your therapy.

Results of IV Therapy: What to Expect

If you receive consistent treatments over time, you may find that the beneficial results of each one will last longer. IV therapy can improve your overall health. As your health improves and vitamin deficiencies are corrected, your overall sense of well-being may become consistent and more established.

The effects of taking oral supplements can take weeks to be realized, if ever. In contrast, the effects of vitamin injections and IV therapy can begin within a few hours after treatment. This is due to the efficient, powerful, and quick absorption of nutrients by the body.

We recommend that therapy be administered regularly for maximum benefits. Many of our patients keep an appointment once a week or once every other week. Your vitamin therapy schedule, too, is completely customizable, and you can choose to come in more or less often, depending on your needs and goals.

When you begin your IV vitamin therapy, you should stop taking oral supplements that contain the same nutrients you receive during therapy. If you have pre-existing medical conditions, discuss vitamin therapy with your doctor, just as you would with any oral supplement.

Be Well with IV Vitamin Therapy in Newport News, VA

When you are suffering from anything from fatigue to brain fog to dry skin or are looking for a pick-me-up, IV therapy is one of the best ways to receive the nutrients you need to boost your immune system and stay healthy.

Even if you’re prepping for surgery, you’re pregnant and want to receive folic acid, or you need detox to quickly get rid of a hangover, IV therapy can help. Contact KO Blade & Beauty today to schedule an appointment.

K.O. Blade & Beauty for Beautiful Brows

Microblading has been popular for years, but did you know there’s more than one way to achieve the perfect brow? K.O. Blade & Beauty technicians are experts in a variety of eyebrow techniques, including microblading, powder brows, and combo brows.

Microblading

Microblading is the process of creating realistic hair-like strokes on the brows. It’s quite natural looking and can be adapted to your personal aesthetic desires.

Powder Brows

Powder brows offer a filled-in and made-up look. They are an excellent option for clients who have more oily skin. The natural oils in your skin can interfere with the pigment deposits from microblading, which is why we may recommend powder brows for you.

Combo Brows

Combo brows combine the hair-like strokes from microblading and shaded techniques from powder brows. K.O. Blade & Beauty knows that beauty is different for everyone, which is why our technicians offer a variety of ways for clients to achieve the perfect look.

IV Therapy at K.O. Blade & Beauty

Busy professionals, stressed-out parents, and tired athletes alike can benefit from IV therapy at K.O. Blade & Beauty. IV therapy is the process of infusing a cocktail of vitamins and nutrients directly into your bloodstream via IV. This is a superior alternative to oral vitamin supplements. Oral vitamin supplements often have poor absorption rates.

This means that while you might take 5000 ccs of vitamin D, you’re actually absorbing far less than that. IV therapy is not only more precise than oral vitamins, but it also offers immediate results and can be customized according to your needs. K.O. Blade & Beauty offers a variety of IV infusion packages that include everything from an energy boost to stamina increase to immunity support.

Body Sculpting

Body sculpting describes various procedures used to help tighten the skin, shrink stubborn body fat, and reshape the body to a slimmer overall appearance. Some K.O. Blade & Beauty body sculpting procedures include the following:

  • Radiofrequency
  • Cellulite reduction
  • Butt lifting
  • Wood therapy
  • Sauna detox body wraps
  • Ultrasound cavitation
  • Facial lifting and toning
  • Mesotherapy

Your treatment plan can be tailored according to your body type and the results you want. Some of our patients combine cellulite reduction and radiofrequency, while others add more options to their regimen.

Laser Treatments

K.O. Blade & Beauty offers a variety of laser treatments to help our clients achieve their goals.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is an effective method to remove unwanted body hair in order to eliminate shaving and waxing from your routine.

Laser Tattoo Removal

Whether you have an embarrassing design you got on the night of your 18th birthday, or you have simply moved on from the namesake of a tattoo, K.O. Blade & Beauty can help. Laser tattoo removal is an effective and nearly painless option to remove unwanted ink.

Teeth Whitening

You don’t need to give up your coffee habit to enjoy pearly whites! The K.O. Blade & Beauty team can help you achieve bright, whitened teeth in just a few treatments with laser teeth whitening.

Procell Microchanneling

Procell microchanneling is a form of microneedling that helps rejuvenate your skin. This procedure can improve your skin’s overall tone and texture and help reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks. To learn more about Procell microchanneling, contact the K.O. Blade & Beauty team.

Post-Op Care

K.O. Blade & Beauty isn’t just about beauty; we’re also dedicated to wellness. We offer a variety of post-cosmetic surgery care options to help our patients maintain comfort after a procedure. Some of our care treatment options include the following:

  • Wound care
  • Pre-surgical labs
  • Faja fitting
  • Fajas and accessories
  • Suture removal
  • Drain removal
  • Seroma aspiration
  • Taping

  • Fibrosis treatments

K.O. Blade & Beauty started our Post Cosmetics Care and Concierge services because we recognized the growing gap between most cosmetic providers and providers who understand specialized post-op care needs. Our medical team helps our patients monitor vitals, meal prep, and stay hydrated, and we offer post-op education to patients and their families.
