Microblading and Ombre Brows
Brow services are among the most popular cosmetic procedures available. The latest and most advanced semi-permanent eyebrow techniques give our clients a confidence boost in their everyday lives and cut time out of daily get-ready and makeup routines.
K.O. Blade & Beauty in Newport News, VA, a premium permanent cosmetics clinic that offers microblading and ombre brows (otherwise known as “permanent makeup”) to all eligible clients. These semi-permanent makeup procedures can simulate soft pencil shading, a “made up” look (ombre brows), or full, shapely brows (microblading).
Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure where hair strokes are tattooed into the upper layer of the epidermis. The process requires our artist to individually and manually make each hair stroke using a specialized tool. Once these micro-cuts are made, the artist will deposit pigment into them, creating perfectly even, shapely, and full brows.
Microblading is ideal for those with dry or normal skin. We don’t recommend microblading for clients with oily skin.
Results and Aftercare
Do your best not to get your brow area wet (including shower time) for up to two weeks after your appointment. Also, stay away from makeup for a week, and keep your hair away from your brow line. If you see any scabbing or your eyebrows itch, resist picking or scratching the area.
Microblading will last up to three years depending on your skin type, the amount of pigment we use, past medical history, and how well you follow the healing process.
The entire microblading healing process takes about six weeks. At that time, you should come in and let us perform a touch-up. You won’t need another touch-up for six months or more.
Ombre brows, also called “microshaded” or “powdered brows,” are another form of semi-permanent makeup. This process uses a specialized tool (similar to a tattoo gun) to shade, shape, and fill your brows. Instead of micro-cuts (microblading), this procedure uses pignmented pin-like dots to give you a softly penciled or “made up” look, depending on your preferences and aesthetic goals.
Ombre brows are good for dry, normal, and oily skin types.
Results and Aftercare
Results typically last for two to three years, depending on your skin type, skincare regimen, and aftercare. Your ombre brows will reach their full color at around six weeks when they finish healing. We advise you to come in for a touch-up at that time and again six months after that to keep the brows looking fresh.
It’s important to follow our guidelines for a quick recovery during the four- to six-week healing period after the procedure. Do NOT:
- Apply makeup to the area
- Scrub or clean the area, except as prescribed by K.O. Blade & Beauty
- Sleep on or apply pressure to your brows
- Allow direct shower spray to hit the brows
There will be some bruising and scabbing during the healing process, which is normal. Do not pick at scabs. They need to heal naturally.
Although tattoos and semi-permanent makeup are similar, they are not the same. Our artists are not necessarily tattoo artists, but these services are considered “tattoos” since they involve penetrating the skin and depositing pigment. Ombre brows and microblading are also virtually painless, whereas tattoos are notoriously painful.
We require a consultation before every procedure to ensure you’re eligible and to personalize your treatment plan. Once our licensed artists approve the shape and pigment color you want, the process can begin.
Our providers require two to four hours to perform each procedure and a six-week follow-up. The follow-up procedures take roughly two hours to complete.

Microblading is a tattooing technique in which a small handheld tool made of several tiny needles is used to add semi-permanent pigment to the skin. Microblading differs from standard eyebrow tattooing because each hair stroke is created by hand using a blade that creates fine slices in the skin, whereas eyebrow tattoos are done with a machine and single needle bundle. Microblading is typically used on eyebrows to create, enhance or reshape their appearance in terms of both shape and color. It deposits pigment into the upper region of the dermis, so it fades more rapidly than traditional tattooing techniques, which deposit pigment deeper. Microblading artists do not necessarily tattoo artists, and vice versa, because the techniques require different training.
